12-Day Everest Trek Itinerary

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the world’s most famous hiking trips. It is an iconic journey to the foot of the world’s highest peak in Nepal’s Khumbu region. This legendary trek leads adventurers to Mount Everest (8,848m), providing an up-close encounter with the mountain.

The trek has spectacular views of towering Himalayan giants, including Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), and Thamserku (6,623m). The region supports diverse alpine ecosystems despite the harsh conditions, with unique wildlife like the snow leopard, Himalayan tahr, and colorful monal pheasants. The area is home to the Sherpa people, renowned for their mountaineering skills and deeply rooted Buddhist traditions evident in monasteries, prayer flags, and mani stones dotting the landscape.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Fly to Lukla and continue trek to Phakding

Begin your adventure with a thrilling flight to Lukla’s mountain airstrip. Trek through Sherpa villages and pine forests alongside the Dudh Koshi River to reach the peaceful settlement of Phakding.

Day 2: Trek to Namche Bazar

Cross thrilling suspension bridges and climb through rhododendron forests to Namche Bazar, the vibrant trading hub of the Khumbu region with colorful markets and impressive mountain views.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day
Explore Namche while allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, hike to Hotel Everest View for panoramic mountain views, or simply relax.

Day 4: Trek to Tengboche

Journey through pine forests to Tengboche, home to the region’s most important Buddhist monastery. Witness breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam while experiencing the spiritual heart of the Khumbu.

Day 5: Trek to Dingboche

Day 7: Trek to Lobuche

Day 8: Trek to EBC (5363 m) and back to Gorak Shep

Achieve your goal of reaching Everest Base Camp. Walk alongside the massive Khumbu Glacier to the famous base camp, marked by prayer flags and offering views of the risky and icy Khumbu Icefall, before returning to Gorak Shep.

Day 9: Morning hike to Kala Patthar (5545 m) and trek down to Pheriche

Early morning climb of Kala Patthar for the ultimate Everest sunrise view. Then begin your descent, following the Khumbu Khola valley down to the more oxygen-rich air of Pheriche.

Continue descending through familiar terrain with fresh perspectives on the magnificent landscapes. Enjoy the increasing oxygen levels as you return to the comforts of Namche Bazar.

Day 11: Trek to Lukla

Complete your circuit with a final day of trekking back to Lukla. Celebrate your achievement with your trekking team and reflect on your Himalayan journey.

Day 12: Fly to Kathmandu

We take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, offering breathtaking aerial views of the mountains weโ€™ve trekked through. We then experience the contrast between the serene mountain air and the hustle of Kathmandu as our unforgettable Himalayan adventure concludes. Back in Kathmandu, we reflect on the incredible adventure and celebrate with a farewell dinner.


Itinerary Extension Option:

If you wish to explore more of Kathmandu, the itinerary can be extended to include additional days in the capital. In Kathmandu, visit iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Explore the historic Durbar Squaresโ€”Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapurโ€”and conclude your day in Thamel, a lively hub for shopping, nightlife, and authentic Nepali cuisine.
